About Dr. Scott Barr

Dr. Barr has built a reputation of a compassionate surgeon who pays meticulous attention to detail in the care and safety of his patients.

Education

Dr. Barr attended medical school at the University of Toronto and earned his degree in Medicine in 1988. He completed two years of orthopaedic surgery training prior to being drawn to plastic and reconstructive surgery. He completed internship and his Plastic Surgery residency at the University of Western Ontario in London and obtained his Plastic Surgery Specialist Certification in 1993. Pursuing his special interest in the area of Facial Surgery and Reconstruction, Dr. Barr went on to complete an additional eighteen months of advanced training in Facial Reconstruction and Cranial Facial Trauma.

Affiliations

  • He is an assistant professor with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and is a past chairman of the Sudbury General Hospital Laser Committee. He was the former Head of the Division of Plastic Surgery ( Sudbury Regional Hospital ), as well as the former Chief of the Department of Surgical Subspecialties ( Sudbury Regional Hospital ). He sat on the Cosmetic Surgery Advisory Committee and the OHP (Out-of-Hospital Premises) Committee with the College of Physicians and Surgeons and is a current member of the Ethics Committee with Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Awards & Achievements

Dr. Barr has focused increasingly on his cosmetic surgery practice for the past decade as demand for his services continues to grow. He is founder of Barr Plastic Surgery Centre, an advanced CAAASF accredited surgical facility and largest private surgical facility in Northern Ontario. He is also the Medical Director of Skin MediSpa, an institute specializing in non-surgical procedures in anti-aging and skin correction.
